You have to lose to grow

Although we’re here to learn what we can from Alain’s amazing success as a wedding photographer, I think his greatest achievement is how he is raising his boys. He is an inspiring father who is teaching humility and hard work to his 2 young sons. He recently wrote this Facebook post after his son had suffered a loss at an MMA tournament:

Nothing is given, things are earned
Real life has wins and many losses
Mom and dad will always be there to support you with endless love

A double life

Before his interest in photography was piqued Alain was a computer engineer for Florida Power and Light. But after a trip to Paris inspired his interest in photography he knew he was hooked. He quickly had an entire year fully booked with weekend wedding shoots while still working his day job. That kind of double life wasn’t sustainable so he had to make a choice. Thankfully, photography won out and he hasn’t looked back since.

What sets Alain Martinez apart from other wedding photographers?

Alain doesn’t work with the average bride. His luxury wedding photography business has taken him around the world capturing his affluent clients’ lavish wedding celebrations. Alain is willing to do anything to get the right shot. If something isn’t working in the shot then he changes it, even if it means waiting for housekeeping to clean up, or clearing the room of people.

Why is he so committed to doing this kind of work for his clients? He says - in a very humble way - that it’s because he “cares more.” When you look at his work, you’ll see what he’s referring to. The care and detail he adds to his work is obvious - and his clients obviously notice.

He knows you can’t put captions in pictures, so his final work must be the caption itself.

Alain has designed the life he wants to live

Being a successful entrepreneur can be demanding. Alain could easily work around the clock servicing his clients, but that would be teaching his kids that they come last. Not only does Alain make time for family, but he brings them with him to wedding destinations when he must travel. In this way, his kids don’t feel like they’re competing with the business, but reaping the rewards from it. You’ll be intrigued to hear how he has documented his kids’ remarkable experiences from early on and how he teaches them to live the life they want to live just like he does.

Alain attributes his amazing attitude about his boys and his parenting approach to what he saw in his Grandfather, back when he was growing up in Cuba. The values Alain endeavors to carry out in his family are what he saw his Grandfather live every day. Those values have translated into his passion to raise strong caring men. From serving Thanksgiving meals to seeing poverty first-hand in countries around the world, he’s making sure his boys know how blessed they are - and why being blessed creates a responsibility to give back.
